Four Community Regional Medical Center registered nurses were nominated for the Central Valley Coalition of Nursing Organizations (CVCNO) RN of the Year Award.
The dinner event, which was held May 2 at the Banker’s Ballroom in downtown Fresno, recognized outstanding work and contributions made by nurses throughout the Valley.
Community nurses, all from surgical services, were nominated in four different categories:
Administration: Patricia Forshee
Advanced Practice: George Luena
Clinical Practice: Mee Vang-Burton
Education: Lisa Dellone
The nominees were chosen as individuals who excelled in his or her service to the profession and community.

Significant contribution to the health care of patients/clients:

Patricia Forshee
“Pat Forshee is goal oriented and driven to provide the highest level of care to the patients and families that she serves. Although Pat is a clinical supervisor and her clinical nursing is stellar, Pat has a sense of ownership of every patient that comes through her department. Pat goes over and beyond to ensure that the needs of every patient are met while they are on her unit.”
Significant contribution to nursing research:

George Luena
“George Luena works with quality initiatives such as the surgical care improvement project that focuses on evidence-based practice to ensure positive patient outcomes by reducing surgical complications by 25% by the year 2010.”
Significant contribution to health care administration:

Mee Vang-Burton
“Mee Vang-Burton serves has a charge nurse. Although her title does not communicate a management role, her professionalism and expertise make her a natural leader in the perioperative environment.”
Significant contribution to the health care of patients/clients:

Lisa Dellone
“Lisa Dellone is a detail-oriented compassionate nurse who treats every patient and their family as if they were a part of her family. Lisa takes her time to focus on the individual needs of patients and their family.”
CVCNO, founded in 1996, is a coalition of professional nursing organizations of the Central San Joaquin Valley.
