Brian Panish sees himself as a champion for the underdog, as the guy who will help even the playing field for those in need. The southern California attorney took on that role first in the 1970s playing defense on the Fresno State football team, then later fighting in the courtroom for victims of personal injury and product liability cases, and most recently by helping those in the Fresno area afflicted with brain, spine and nerve damage or disease.
When the shuttle bus service at Community Regional Medical Center’s 58-acre campus came to a stop due to the downward spiral of the economy, several hospital volunteers found a way to get it rolling again.
Clovis Community Medical Center is one of six hospitals statewide chosen to study the safety and effectiveness of elective angioplasties in hospitals that do not have open heart surgery on site. It’s a move that cardiologists say is overdue and is really about accessibility and convenience for patients and for doctors.

Steven N. Parks MD, Professor of Clinical Surgery and Chairman of the UCSF Fresno’s department of surgery at Community Regional Medical Center died at home on Aug. 21, 2010. He was 67. Dr. Parks was credited with establishing a standardized system of trauma care in the central San Joaquin Valley.

When construction of the five-story bed tower at Clovis Community Medical Center is finished, it will be the tallest building in the city. But size isn't the most important part of the hospital expansion. With its enlarged campus -- now taking shape along Highway 168 -- the city's only acute-care hospital is expected to boost medical services and create hundreds of jobs.

Fresno State’s head football coach Pat Hill announced a fund to honor the memory of his longtime friend and coaching colleague Dan Brown who died of brain cancer. The Dan Brown Legacy Fund supports the Central California Neuroscience Institute at Community Regional Medical Center. Hill urged others to help in building the new program: “We have an opportunity to save some lives here in Fresno.”
